Day 15 – Driving to Nairobi – September 7th – (No Shooting)
No more shooting. Today begins the long journey home to Frisco, Texas. We drove to a small airstrip close to Intrepid Resort at Samburu. There, we caught 2 Cessna Caravan planes to take our group to a Nairobi day hotel, The Ole Sereni Hotel, where we ate lunch and dinner. We then were transported to the Nairobi Jomo Kenyatta International Airport where we all said our goodbyes and made way to our respective gates for the long flight(s) home. For me, it was a 9-hour flight to Amsterdam with a 3 hour layover and then a direct flight of 10 hours to DFW International Airport in Texas.
Back Home on September 8th at 1:50pm
I cannot describe in words how much I enjoyed my first trip to Kenya, Africa. The Jo Van Os Safari group made this trip for me. They simply took care of everything and all services were first class. I absolutely loved the food and all the accommodations provided. All the safari guides were courteous, friendly, entertaining and well-heeled at the art of locating animals for us to shoot in the wild. Also, they knew how and where to align the vehicle for the best light and best angle for the shot, they cared.
I made many new friends on this trip and can say that I miss them all. What a marvelous group of people to spend time with in Africa!!
I want to say special thanks to our tour leader, Jeff Vanuga with Jo Van Os Safaris and our game drive drivers, Henry, Stanley, David, Joshua and Peter. What a great group of guys who met us each day with a smile and a “ready to go” attitude. I also want to say thanks to my awesome bunk mate Colin which kept me laughing and in good spirits the entire journey. Thanks everyone!
