Day 12 – Driving to Samburu – September 4th – Shoot Day 9
6:30 breakfast at Lion Hill Lodge at Lake Nakuru and 7:00am departure. We packed up for the drive to Samburu. Another long drive in the Land Cruisers was not at all appetizing. After driving for a few hours, we stopped for lunch at Trout Tree, which was an amazing restaurant that was completely built around a huge Acacia tree! There were lots of Colobus Monkeys surrounding the place in the trees and they were a beautiful sight. The trout was raised on location in very large tanks out behind the restaurant. Once you order they actually go to the tanks and catch them live and prep for cooking. The trout was delicious!
As we turned on the road to the Intrepid Lodge at Samburu, we stopped to shoot the Samburu Village People at Dusk. Again, this was a highlight of our trip. We shot both the men and the women of the village doing their ritual dances while they shared their culture with us. Their colors were beautiful and their homes were different than those we saw in the Masai Mara. We stayed at the village until dusk and then drove the remaining 20 minutes to the Intrepid Lodge at Samburu.
We arranged our tents and then showered and dressed for dinner.
Dinner at 7:30pm
